eSafety Check Inspections

Driving an unregistered vehicle is a serious offence that can have far-reaching and catastrophic consequences. Ensuring your vehicle is registered and roadworthy is crucial not only for compliance with the law but also for the safety of everyone on the road. Registration includes compulsory third-party insurance, which covers personal injury in the event of an accident.

Pink Slip Inspection – Your Registration Inspection Station

For vehicles more than three years old, a safety inspection is required for registration renewal. This safety inspection, known as a pink slip, proves your car is roadworthy. Your registration renewal notice will inform you if your vehicle requires an inspection. To obtain a pink slip, bring your vehicle to an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) like Auto Spot.

eSafety Check

An eSafety Check is an electronically submitted pink slip to the RTA, allowing you to renew your registration online or by phone. To get an eSafety Check, visit an e-Safety Check Inspection Station. This process simplifies registration renewal and ensures your vehicle is roadworthy.

Blue Slip Inspection

A blue slip is an unregistered vehicle safety inspection report issued by an AUVIS. It certifies that a vehicle meets the required roadworthiness, design, and identity standards. This inspection is necessary for:

  • Establishing registration for an unregistered vehicle
  • Registering an interstate vehicle in NSW for the first time
  • Second-hand vehicles, including interstate and imported vehicles, which may be selected for additional inspection by the RTA’s specialized vehicle identity unit

White Slip

A white slip is an inspection report rejection slip detailing the repairs needed before a vehicle can be registered. Once the repairs are completed and the vehicle is re-inspected, it will receive a pink or blue slip.

Driving an unregistered vehicle attracts on-the-spot fines of $1007 for driving uninsured and unregistered, and four demerit points. If the matter goes to court, fines can increase to $2200 for driving unregistered and $5500 for driving uninsured.
